Making the Move

As mentioned in the previous post JUMP very quickly had out grown the after school club setting and moved to our own unit providing gymnastics classes in Cumbernauld every day of the week. This was exciting and practical for the club as it grew. The first unit JUMP lived in became very special to many people. Children met new friends and parents chatted in the small kitchen area- I would say this is when JUMP Gymnastics club became more than just a club. We had many visitors - Emma White, Marian Drăgulescu and even Nicola Sturgeon! Many fond memories were created in the 'old gym' and it was sad to leave it behind.

In 2016 JUMP moved to the double unit directly across from the single unit. Satellite venues had been running too with the idea was that classes would run in some venues surrounding the Cumbernauld area and once people are interested they could move over to the gym. However these venues quickly became popular and were no longer feeder classes but permanent JUMP venues. Classes have ran in Glenmannor, Denny, Twechar, Chryston and Airdrie.

Currently, Laura leads and runs classes in Denny ( Denny centre and Denny High). Karen runs and leads classes in St Mauracies High School in Cumbernauld. Rachael runs and leads classes in Airdrie (St Margaret's High school) two nights a week- however Airdrie classes initially ran out of a dance school but outgrew the dance hall and was in search of somewhere new. Our tour of Airdrie first took us to Airdrie football stadium, then to Calderdale High School before settling in St Margaret's.

It is safe to say JUMP has come a long way from the initial one hour gymnastics classes in a primary school in Cumbernauld. The clubs is definitely unique and this is why it has been a success.
Next post will be about our fabulous JUMP coaches!
